Thank you for writing for me! Below are some potential ideas (which you in no way have to follow but to give an idea what I like)

General likes:
Just add history
Just add politics.
Just add worldbuilding.

Characters who walk down the road of: "someone who started out as a good man doing good things and then became a good man doing questionable things and then became a questionable man doing evil things" (to quote Wentworth Miller about Michael Scofield in Prison Break, which just defines a lot of characters I like (particularly when they are still someone who cries after every least bad thing among a sea of even worse things), the characters who have to watch their loved ones making all those hard decisions and understanding them but my god do they wish they did not.

Ye Zun and his dramaverse relationship with Shen Wei. Gui Mian is a very different character with a very different relationship to Shen Wei.
dramaverse characterization or relationships, e.g. Ye Zun =/= Gui Mian, Zhang Shi =/= Shennong Bo, even Zhao Xinci =/= Papa Zhao, 

Potential prompt ideas:

• Shen Wei won over Zhao Yunlan's mom pretty darn fast. How long does it take him to win over Zhao Yunlan's dad? How does he do it?
• Does Zhao Yunlan's dad even know his son deals with ghosts and zombies and yao and things? Like Shennong Bo did, but did Zhao Yunlan's dad? Either of Zhao Yunlan's parents finding out about that and being all, does Shen Wei know or whatever they would think, up to you, would be great!
• Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei exploring Zhao Yunlan's godly abilities and/or Shen Wei's ghostly ones, which he still absolutely has, either out of bed or in bed. (Also, possibly addressing: whatever did Shen Wei slice Zhao Yunlan's shirt with while drunk?)

Onmyouji The Yin-Yang Master Movies (2001 and 2003):
Seimei x Hiromasa - something where they have to actually address their feelings for each other, possibly one where a character has to kiss the other one back to being human or something: potentially either from having become a demon from any number of things including a misunderstanding (and then trying to hide it from Seimei, which makes it worse) in Hiromasa's case, or from shifting into a half-fox on accident and then needing Hiromasa to turn back (in Seimei's).

More of Zhang Da Foye Zhang Qishan's adventures at or around M9 times (or after), with his favorite fu guan, Zhang Rishan and Baye Qi Tiezui. Any version: Book or tv show or combination of the two immediately floats my boat. Or where Yin Xinyue gets to find out more about her husband.

Any of my general likes you can hit would have me squealing in joy:

• Just add additional history - potential Zhang Qishan and Zhang Rishan interacting with other generals at the time (was that person on the phone admonishing Zhang Rishan literally Chiang Kai-shek? Could have been! Is there a way to throw in other generals and stuff going on in the northeast at the time, which Foye must have been very worried about? Would love to see it!)
• Just add (more) worldbuilding.
• Just add pov character transforming into monster/developing monster characteristics. - your basic trap trip or specifically that gate under Changsha having even weirder effects on the Zhang family than it is seen to in tv show canon.
• Exploration of monster or just weird inhuman characteristics - here, could be either of them, to be honest (either Zhang Rishan's blood or Foye's weirdness).
• (Also, not requesting this formally, but another idea might be either glimpses of or full on later on in their relationship, after Foye becomes "someone who started out as a good man doing good things and then became a good man doing questionable things and then became a questionable man doing evil things" (and he is still such a man who figuratively weeps after every least bad thing among a sea of even worse things), and Zhang Rishan, Yin Xinyue and Qi Tiezui being characters who have to watch his loved ones making all those hard decisions and understanding them but my god do they wish Foye did not have to make them.)

Sha Hai | Tomb of the Sea (TV show) era:
Specific DNW: Liu Sang (I'm fine with Wang Can being in the fic)

Zhang Rishan and Hei Xiazi lived through and got to see/maybe even take part in a lot of the build-up to Sha Hai). The glimpses we see of their reactions are downright heartbreaking. How does this color their reaction to everybody? To Xie Yuchen, apprentice to Erye and grandson of Xie Qiu. To Wu Xie. To the even younger Li Cu, Yang Hao and Su Wan.

Pangzi x Zhang Rishan or Pangzi & Zhang Rishan: Pangzi seems to launch a very concerted "make this Zhang smile" campaign on Zhang Rishan, and Zhang Rishan grins like he hasn't grinned since, well, Foye and Baye were around and he was much, much younger. Would love more exploration of their relationship and future meetings after they meet each other that first time and a continuation of the "make this Zhang smile" campaign, including possibly potential Pangzi nicknames for him. (or possible past relationships. Pangzi must have heard a few things about Zhang Rishan when he was growing up, or even have run into him before)
